What is cellulite?
Cellulite is uneven deposits of fat right under your skin that can look lumpy. Women have connective tissues that separate their fat cells and connect the fat to the skin. With a weight gain, the fat bulges out from between the connective fibers. As our tissues change with age, these connective tissues become thicker and our skin becomes thinner. This makes the cellulite much more noticeable. The skin over fat is not stretched taut like the skin over muscle, and the skin begins to look bumpier. How can I get rid of cellulite?
Although you cannot completely get rid of cellulite because it is simply fat cells, you can reduce their appearance with a proper exercise regimen. This can help your lower body to look smoother and more toned. The most important advice I can give is to work out the muscles in your lower body from every angle so the fat stores are reduced and the lost muscle tissues are built up, giving a flat appearance. Keep in mind that you cannot target one area on your body specifically to lose weight. It is important to undertake an exercise regimen to reduce your overall body fat, then to focus on the lower body workout to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The lower body workout should involve exercises that tone your inner and outer thighs, your glutes, abdomen muscles, quadriceps, etc. After a few weeks, you may want to start adding light weights to increase the intensity and build your muscles to burn even more fat. As your body becomes slimmer and toned, the cellulite will shrink until it can no longer be easily seen under the skin.
And don't forget the cardio! The fat stored in your midsection and lower body is harmful to your heart's health. A good cardio program can help you lose weight while increasing your heart strength until you are healthier overall.
